One Year Until Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 Kicks Off
With just one year remaining until the Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 kicks off in Sunderland, the excitement across the host nation is palpable as anticipation builds for what promises to be the largest and most inclusive celebration of women’s rugby to date.
In a wave of nationwide celebrations, the promotional film “This Energy Never Stops” has been launched, featuring rugby stars who are urging fans to bring their unstoppable enthusiasm to this landmark event. The film showcases key players set to shine in England 2025, including Ellie Kildunne, the Red Roses full-back and Team GB sevens player; Manaé Feleu, captain of France; Babalwa Latsha, captain of South Africa; and Renee Holmes, Black Ferns full-back. This launch follows a highly successful women’s rugby sevens event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where over 260,000 fans filled Stade de France, showcasing the sport to an unprecedented global audience.
Building on the growing momentum behind women’s rugby, England 2025 has unveiled ticket prices for all matches and announced the kick-off times for key events. England’s opening match at the Stadium of Light is scheduled for August 22 at 19:30 BST (GMT+1). The bronze final is set for 12:30 BST, with the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 final kicking off at 16:00 BST at Twickenham Stadium on September 27, where a record-breaking attendance is anticipated.
Spanning venues across the country, England 2025 aims to be the most accessible and widely celebrated women’s rugby event ever. With ticket demand expected to be high, fans are encouraged to register on the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 website for a chance to participate in the presale, which runs from September 24 to October 8, 2024.
The 10th edition of this premier tournament will feature the world’s top 16 teams, with 10 already qualified. The remaining six spots will be decided in the upcoming WXV 2024 in September, where the highest-ranked non-qualified teams will earn their place in the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.
Host cities are also joining the nationwide celebration. To highlight the tournament’s kickoff in the North East of England, the Stadium of Light will host a special episode of the RugbyPass podcast “Stronger Than You Think.” The episode will feature South Shields native and former Women’s Rugby World Cup winner Katy Daley-Mclean, alongside former Lioness and broadcaster Karen Carney, discussing their personal journeys and reflecting on significant moments in women’s sports over the past decade.
