Tackling Tomorrow, Today Launches Crowdfunding Campaign
Tackling Tomorrow, Today is a charitable organization that aims to provide sports coaching, particularly rugby, to children in underprivileged communities where sports coaching is limited. The organization believes that sport, and rugby in particular, can have a positive impact on the children’s physical and mental health, self-confidence, decision-making, peer relationships, and emotional control.
The main challenges facing Tackling Tomorrow, Today include limited funding for schools, the availability of coaches, the sustainability of the program, and the restrictions in time and resources. To overcome these challenges, Tackling Tomorrow, Today offers the coaching resource and kit at a heavily subsidized or free cost, recruits coaches, provides regular and consistent interaction with the children and young adults, and pays the coaches directly.
Founder Daniel Brocklehurst says “My time as a Community Coach for Haslemere Rugby Club and the work I have be fortunate enough to do via DB Sports Coaching have been driven by an absolute passion and belief in engaging through sport. I’ve seen first hand the impact we can have. I’ve seen the sheer joy on the faces of those we work with (even a fist pump of excitement once, as we walked through the door!). I’ve seen those with no access to the game, connect with it and grow with it.
I’ve also seen coaches leave because funding lines meant they didn’t have enough coaching hours or payment coming in delayed forcing the need for a more reliable income. I’ve seen budgets cut.
I have a dream of enabling an army of coaches to work with as many people as possible, connecting, engaging, developing them along the way and spreading the core values as they grow our amazing game. I want to remove funding as a barrier and together we can do that”
Tackling Tomorrow, Today is seeking funding via a crowdfunding campaign. The organization is asking for a one-off £10 donation from as many people as possible. With these funds, Tackling Tomorrow, Today aims to deliver the coaching program to as many schools as possible across the UK, ensuring that children have access to qualified coaches and the opportunity to experience the game of rugby.
